Coupon'n Tip: Couponing on a Tight Schedule

Whether you’re a busy mom, a college student, or working full-time, fitting in couponing can be daunting. Here are a few ideas to help you out!

1. Matchups: Hopefully, our site helps out with matching up the ads with coupons & promos so you don’t have to. If you aren’t next to stores that we cover, try Googling your location or nearby store(s) with words like “match ups” “coupons”, etc. You can come across blogs that scout out the week’s best deals and pair them with promos/ coupons.

2. Don’t Delay Cutting: Clip & organize coupons as they arrive. If you let them stack up in huge piles, it will put stress on you and take up blocks of time. Get older kids to help out,  clip during shows/ movies at home, or clip while the kids are playing.

3. Check out services: Look into coupon clipping services. It does cost up front, but the benefit is not having to clip them yourself, and you are buying coupons that you will use. Scan your local ad the day it arrives for sales and sale dates; check a blog for match-ups; then order the coupons they mention. My purchases usually come in the mail with a few sale days left.

4. List it: Writing or typing out your shopping list and filing which coupons you need before the trip saves time in the long run! Instead of wandering up and down the aisles with your ad and scanning through your binder every three feet, you’ve got it mapped out. Not to mention it cuts down on stress if you’ve also got kids in tow!

5. Time: Find the best time to shop for you. If it’s after the kids have gone to bed or early in the morning, pick out the least stressful. Also avoiding peak shopping hours will save you time standing in line or navigating around multitudes of shoppers.

6. eCoupons: Upload these coupons electronically to your store loyalty card, and they will apply automatically at checkout when you swipe your card.  They can be loaded and used one time per card. There’s no need to clip & file these, and you can add several within seconds!

Giveaway! Betty Crocker Fun da-middles

Thanks to Betty Crocker through MyBlogSpark, I was chosen to be among the first people to try a new tasty treat from Betty Crocker called Fun da-middles, which are due to hit shelves this summer!

Fun da-middles are a boxed cupcake mix that have their own filling!!! I got to try the vanilla cake mix with vanilla filling, but they are also available in chocolate with vanilla filling, and vanilla with chocolate filling. 

You make up the cake mix just like you were to make any cupcake, but you put a small amount of the batter into the cupcake cups, then you squeeze some of the filling in from the already-made pouch and then layer more of the cake mix on top of the filling and bake away!  With Fun da-middles, there’s no need to frost cupcakes, because it’s almost like the frosting is inside and we all know it’s what’s inside that matters!!

I’ve got two words for ya…SUPER YUM!!!

Walgreens Extreme Couponing (week of 6/12): $5.00 or Less

Welcome to this new post where we will lay out some extreme couponing deals that will cost you about $5.00 out of pocket each week!  First, here’s everything you need to know about shopping at Walgreens:

Walgreens allows one  manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per product. You may use Walgreen’s Register Rewards in addition to these coupons.  The Register Rewards print like a Catalina on a little machine near the cash register.  The most important thing to remember when coupon shopping at Walgreens is that you have to have as many items to purchase as you have coupons, including any Register Rewards you want to use.  We often use “filler” (cheap extra items) so that we have enough items to purchase.

   Walgreens is certainly the hardest drugstore to shop, but it has the best deals!  What I like most is that you can repeat the deals and get more product.  The limits are just one per transaction, so you can get more than one item–just don’t clear the shelves!!  Here’s a link to the coupon policy.

CVS Extreme Couponing (week of 6/12): $5.00 or Less

Welcome to this new post where we will lay out some extreme couponing deals that will cost you about $5.00 out of pocket each week!

CVS allows one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per product. You may use CVS Extra Bucks (ECBs) in addition to these coupons.  Extra Bucks are their rewards that are printed  at the end of your cash register receipt. These coupons can be used on your next purchase.  Remember, if there is a limit in the ad for the Extra Bucks items, this limit is per CVS Extra Care Card.

The best deals to be had at CVS are “Extra Bucks” offers.  The best thing about CVS is their rainchecks, which include the “Extra Buck” offers so you can still get the offer when they have more stock!  Be sure and get your CVS card so you can enjoy these extreme savings! 

My VERY favorite thing about CVS is their Rain Checks!  A Rain Check is a slip of paper that you can get from a store when they are out of an item that is on sale. The slip of paper allows you to come back when they have the item again in stock and purchase it for the sale price.   Rain checks are written taking the Extra Bucks into effect.  At CVS, rain checks do not expire!  So, when you run into a cleared shelf, consider getting a Rain Check!
